I have been blowing glass for just shy of two decades. I am currently working with Bend, Oregon artist Michelle Kaptur. My first experience with the medium was at Icefire Glassworks in Cannon Beach, Oregon, where I worked with my first mentor in glass: Jim Kingwell. Kingwell is one of the pioneers of Pacific Northwest art glass, now with 50 years working in the medium.
What I love about art glass is that it is as much about science and chemistry as it is about art. My other bodies of work include my “Ocean” series of vessels in colors inspired by the Pacific Ocean where I lived for several years, and designs inspired by sea life.
I studied at Firehouse Glass from 2003 to 2005, and at Eugene Glass School with Karen Willenbrink in 2006. I also studied at Pilchuck Glass School under Rich Royal in 2012, and Davide Salvadore and Shelley Muzylowski Allen in 2016. Most recently I attended a goblet workshop at the Pratt Fine Arts Center under Boyd Sugiki in 2017.
